Our Test Cutter Genevieve has finished her final Work Scenario, a collaboration with the very talented Designer Cory Sincennes. Using Cory's gorgeous Klimt inspired Design Genevieve created a 3D rendering for a virtual fitting. 3D was helpful in figuring out the scale and placement of the graphics. Where KaeLeahs design was more simple we found Gerbers 3D to be sufficient, but as we delved into more complex patterns we found it to be very clunky, and not worth the effort of rendering it. Genevieve also didnt trust the rendering and made her own mock up of the costume. Looking at the final product I have to agree that Gerber didnt render the fabrics well in this scenario. Regardless, Genevieve valiently slayed this challenging project and created an adorable and beautiful version of Cory's costume design!
Gerber's 3D software costs thousands more (annually) to add onto their 2D patterning software, in larger fashion houses they have technicians devoted to this one suite of tools and it may be valuable for them, however in our industry I don't believe Gerber 3D is worth the investment. Never fear though! We are all in love with a much more affordable, user friendly 3D alternative. Test Cutter Marlee is currently finishing her last work scenario using CLO a wonderful software which we will be reccomending for 3D printing and digital printing. Stay Tuned!
